Thanking God this week for...
  • speaking to me through music
  • speaking to me through other people's blog posts and Facebook notes
  • Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day
  • deep conversations and a beautiful walk in the park last Friday with a friend and her boys
  • dinner and great conversation with friends on Monday
  • Elijah's soft and chubby cheeks
  • Steve's ability to change the brakes on a car, saving us hundreds of dollars
  • the Christian Counseling and Eduation Foundation's podcast, which I just discovered yesterday
  • hair dryers
  • electricity
  • His wisdom
  • His sovereignty
  • His goodness
  • gently, frequently calling me to trust Him

Have you tried making any bread from "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day" yet? I don't have the book but got a lengthy article from "Mother Earth News" I think it was that had a whole bunch of the recipes from the book in it that I can't wait to try!

I heard the authors interviewed on "The Splendid Table" and it sounds so easy and tasty. I can't wait to try it and really should do so soon!

yes, Danielle, and it's wonderful! I was thanking God both for the book, and for the actual artisan bread in five minutes a day :) I've made it twice now. I'm anxious to make whole wheat bread, but the book says you should master the basic recipe first, so that's what I've made. it really is ridiculously easy. I had never made bread before in my life--and Steve's first few attempts with bread did NOT turn out well--but this was yummy on the first try! REALLY chewy, which is how we like it. I have enough left for about one more loaf--I'm anxious to try it next week and see if it's even more sourdough-tasting (which we also really like).

I saw the Mother Earth News article, but decided to go ahead and buy the book anyway. But yes, definitely use the article and start baking!
